At last night’s Grammy awards, female pop stars reigned. Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga together took six awards, and the Recording Academy liked Beyoncé so much they might as well have put a ring on it.
Lady Beyonswift did leave a few statuettes laying around for the rest of the recording community, though, including several Paste favorites. Phoenix snagged Best Alternative Music Album for their breakthrough Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, Bruce Springsteen took Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Kanye West won for for “Run this Town” with Jay-Z and Rihanna, and Steve Earle took home a trophy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Elsewhere, Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Instrumental Performance and Album went to our predictions for the categories.

Most Egregious Grammy Shafts
Yes! Phoenix's win makes my heart happy. They put together such a fantastic album, and it sounds SO GOOD live. It's nice that guys who put out great pop music and are actual musicians got some recognition.
Grammy Awards are presented annually for outstanding achievement in the music industry. Just recently the 2010 Grammy winners were awarded. I knew Beyonce was going to feature heavily on the Grammy winners 2010 list, but not a 6 award haul. Taylor Swift getting two awards at least was sort of expected, but I would have expected a few more awards for Lady Gaga – since no one can shut up about her lately. Good thing I didn't put any money on who would win, because I probably would have ended up losing a payday loans worth or so. But anyways, congratulations to all the winners.
