Allman Brothers, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow to Perform at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival
On June 26 in Chicago’s Toyota Park, around 30 musical acts will gather for Eric Clapton’s third Crossroads Guitar Festival. “I do it because I want to hear these players…it’s a selfish thing,” Clapton told Rolling Stone. “I can go to one place and hear all of my favorite musicians in one day.” So far, confirmed performers include the Allman Brothers Band, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and B.B. King.
The first Crossroads Guitar Festival was a two-day event in Dallas in 2004, and then in 2007 Clapton rounded up the troops for a one-day Chicago performance. While the inaugural festival was a huge event at Dallas’ gargantuan Cotton Bowl, the 2007 version took place at a small soccer stadium. (This year’s event will be at the same location.)
Proceeds from the event will go to support Clapton’s Crossroads Centre, an addiction treatment facility in Antigua the musician founded in the early ’90s.
Full list of confirmed performers:
Allman Brothers Band
David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos
Doyle Bramhall II
Gary Clark Jr.
