Can’t wait to see what awkward things Liz Lemon is bound to say each week on 30 Rock? Do you contribute to Lost blogs after each episode? Then it might interest you to know that the U.S. will go to this year’s Monte-Carlo Television Festival well-represented. The Producers Guild of America chose six series- three comedies and three dramas—to send to the tiny nation: 30 Rock, The Office, Entourage, Lost, Dexter and Mad Men.
When Prince Rainier III of Monaco christened the festival back in 1961, he said he’d established it to “encourage a new art form, in the service of peace and understanding between men.” Well, TV is no longer as newfangled as it was in the early ‘60s, but it’s still a unifying agent, at least here in the States.
This year’s festival runs June 6-10, with the awards ceremony taking place on the final day. After reviewing the TV submissions from all over the world, an international group of judges will choose the winners in four categories: Best International Producer, Best European Producer, Best Actor and Best Actress, and winners will receive a Golden Nymph award. Think John Krasinky will put Rainn Wilson’s Nymph into a JELL-O mold if he wins?
