Your average movie lover might not be able to bring home a shiny, gold Academy Award statuette, but the vintage set of wheels from the Oscar-nominated Coen Brothers film A Serious Man is now within reach. Starting this Monday, Feb. 22, and running through March 4, eBay will host an auction for the 1966 Dodge Coronet used in the movie. Proceeds from the sale will go to support Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California, a nonprofit organization reaching out to kids since 1941.
“We’re delighted that a serious collector will have the opportunity to buy one of the film’s classic cars and that children in need will benefit from the excitement of the Oscars and the online auction,” said Focus Features CEO James Schamus in a statement.
Until the auction ends and a winner is determined, the car will be showcased at Minnesota’s Mall of America (appropriately so, since the film takes place in mid-‘60s Midwest). Although the car’s estimated value is $20,000, the opening bid will be set lower.
