Titus Andronicus to "Monitour" North America this Spring

February 17, 2010  |  2:30pm

On March 9, Jersey natives and punk new-gods Titus Andronicus will release their much-anticipated and unabashedly ambitious sophomore LP The Monitor. And as frontman Patrick Stickles explains on the band’s blog, they’ve decided to dub the accompanying tour “The Monitour Phase Two: Sea to Shining Sea.”

When you’re as relentlessly DIY as Titus Andronicus, little details like “where to sleep” often fall by the wayside. That, dear reader, is where you come in! While they’re trekking through your town, if you provide the crew of the good ship Monitor with a floor and roof (the two main requirements) to sleep on and under, respectively, you’ll snag some free tickets. E-mail the band for more details.

What’s more, the band is also looking to book some smaller shows in between these official dates, for audiences of two or more. From that same post: “Those of you who are familiar with what a calendar looks like may notice there are a couple days in the schedule above where we don’t have any shows. You are probably thinking: ‘They must be doing something really cool and top secret that day.’ Wrong! We’re not going to be doing shit. Black Flag never took days off, so why should we? I guess what I am trying to say is, if you want Titus Andronicus to come to yr town on one of those off days, we will do it. We are happy to play at yr house/community center/church basement/whatever. All you have to do is ask.”
