The Long Winters are not exactly known for churning out albums at a breakneck pace. It took three years after their sophomore album, When I Pretend to Fall, to get 2006’s Putting the Days to Bed. While there have been many promises of a follow-up, we’re a few months into the new decade now with no fourth album in sight. Roderick did tell us recently that he’d been collaborating with country songstress Kathleen Edwards, and the two recently did a song for the charity GIVE Seattle.
But recently, Roderick resurrected his 13 Songs with John series on YouTube, where he discusses his life as a gentleman farmer, hangs out in abandoned swimming pools and, mostly, tries to explain why this new Long Winters record is taking so damn long.
But until it’s ready, we’ll just enjoy Roderick’s chuckle-inducing updates on Twitter, check out his new side project, Mt. Desolation, and watch his webisodes:
