Warner Brothers Planning to Buy British Site of Harry Potter Franchise

Warner Brothers Planning to Buy British Site of Harry Potter Franchise

According to the Warner Brothers Twitter, the studio has filed plans to buy Leavesden Studio in the UK. The $161 million plus acquisition would make WB the only major American studio to own foreign studio real estate.

Both the Harry Potter franchise and The Dark Knight were filmed at the location outside London. WB’s proposal for the former Rolls-Royce aero-engineering plant includes installing two new stages and refurbishing the existing buildings and the back lot (used for filming outdoor scenes). The new site will be used mostly for post-production, special effects and animatronics.

If the proposal is carried through as written, members of the public would also be able to tour famous movie sets, including the Great Hall from Harry Potter.
