William Shatner Signs on to Star in "Shit My Dad Says" TV Series
As we reported back in November, CBS has plans to bring Twitter sensation “Shit My Dad Says” to the small screen. But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, William Shatner will star as the show’s titular, shit-saying character.
Justin Halpern’s “Shit My Dad Says” Twitter feed chronicles the off-color comments made by his 73-year-old father, who the 29-year-old now Internet star lives with.
The series’ pilot has “Will & Grace” creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick as executive producers, and Halpern co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker.
Shatner’s last foray in the television world—on ABC’s Boston Legal—won him an Emmy. Perhaps he’ll earn another with his turn as Halpern’s dad, with lines like this Jan. 23 gem: “Sprain, huh? Did you go to medical school?… Well I did, so spare me your dog-shit diagnosis and lemme look at your ankle.”
