Peter Graves, best known for his role as Jim Phelps on the Mission: Impossible television series, died at his Los Angeles home on Sunday. He was 83.
Graves, whose acting career spanned nearly six decades, is also remembered for his comedic role of Captain Clarence Oveur in both Airplane! films (delivering the famous line, “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?”) as well as being the host of the TV series Biography.
The actor, who would have celebrated his 84th birthday this week, collapsed in his driveway Sunday and died of a heart attack, his business manager Fred Barman confirmed to the New York Times.
