Learn to Make "Poor People" Crafts With Amy Sedaris' New Book

Author, actress and all-around funny gal Amy Sedaris has revealed details about her forthcoming second book, Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People!, via her website. Her literary solo debut, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence, gave hilarious but essential tips for hostesses, from dealing with drunks (“Better to cut them off rather than pretend it’s not happening and then allow them to stay over and wet your bed”), to nosy party guests (“A good trick is to fill your medicine cabinet with marbles. Nothing announces a nosey guest better than an avalanche of marbles hitting a porcelain sink.”) along with recipes.

The second book is sure to be just as tongue-in-cheek. Here are just a few of her genius crafting ideas—crab-claw roach clips, tinfoil balls, and crepe-paper moccasins from the website. The book is apparently inspired by Sedaris’ theory that ugly people craft and attractive people have sex, so the author is bringing the joy of cheap crafts to everyone in the world, no dexterous fingers required. One of her cheapest and easiest ideas: Buy fruit, let it get old, and see what shapes it turns into.

The book will hit shelves Nov. 2, and is currently available for pre-sale on Amazon.
