Southern author Barry Hannah died yesterday in his home in Oxford, Miss. Hannah died of natural causes, according to the New York Times. He was 67.
With nine novels and four collections of short stories to his credit, Hannah established himself as one of the South’s most relevant contemporary authors. He was an award-winning writer and director of the University of Mississippi’s creative writing MFA program. In fact, Hannah was already set to be honored at the upcoming Oxford Conference for the Book (March 4-6, 2010).
