Picking up its first series since Chris Albrecht became the new CEO and president of the network, Starz has given the go-ahead for Camelot, a contemporary retelling of the legend of King Arthur based on perhaps the definitive collection of Arthurian myth, Le Morte d’Arthur (via the Hollywood Reporter).
Camelot will be penned by British screenwriter Chris Chibnall of Torchwood, who, in 2005, developed a series based on Merlin for the BBC. The show boasts an international production team, with members hailing from the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland.
Casting is going on now, and production begins in Ireland in June. Camelot is slated for an early-2011 premiere.
