Diablo Cody's New Movie, Young Adult, in Development

Although Diablo Cody most recently dabbled in horror, she’s coming back to the lighthearted, romantic style that brought her much success with 2007’s Juno. As Reuters reports, the screenwriter’s latest flick, Young Adult, has been picked up by Mandate Pictures. Cody’s enlisted the help of her Juno production team co-helmed by Mason Novick, Cody and Lianne Halfon, and Russell Smith.

Young Adult‘s plot is centered around a thirty-something fiction writer who’s returning to her Midwestern home turf to hunt down “the one who got away,” only to find that he’s now married and is a father. Although the flick is another original work by Cody, she’s also working on bringing popular tween book series Sweet Valley High to the big screen as well as penning a new version of Shakespearean comedy The Taming of the Shrew.
