Neil Patrick Harris to Smurfing Smurf in Smurfs: The Movie

First it was Scooby Doo, then came Garfield. Next was Alvin and the Chipmunks. Now, the Smurfs are the latest bygone childhood characters in line to get the CGI-ified feature-film treatment in an upcoming adaptation from director Raja Gosnell (Scooby Doo, Beverly Hills Chihuahua).

Neil Patrick Harris (of CBS’s diamond in the rough, How I Met Your Mother) is signed on as the film’s live-action lead, says Deadline. We know, we know. NPH is way too cool for yet another watered-down version of a children’s classic. But hey, Doogie’s gotta eat, too, y’all.
