Perez Hilton had some news to pass along to Billboard at last week’s SXSW: He’s planning to start a radio music-countdown show as “a cooler alternative to Ryan Seacrest.”
Hilton says his show will consist of music—both popular hits and lesser-known artists he wants to introduce to America—as well as in-depth interviews, during which Hilton will ask “the questions that…Seacrest would not ask them.” He’s quick to say he won’t leave his notorious ribbing at the door, but assures listeners he “can make fun of someone and still be a fan.”
The music world is certainly not unfamiliar territory for the blogger, who features a “Listen to This” spot on PerezHilton.com introducing up-and-coming musicians and who launched a label, Perezcious Music, last year. As for the radio show, fans can tune their dials to the same stations that air Perez’ current show, Radio Perez, as the music countdown will join that nationally syndicated program.
