Precious Star Gabourey Sidibe Joins Showtime's The Big C

It seems Academy Award nominee Gabourey Sidibe, fresh from basking in the glow of her well-received performance in the film Precious, is ready for a new project. She’s going to appear in a recurring role on Showtime’s upcoming series, The Big C. Sidibe will play a sass-talking student in central character Cathy’s class.

The dark comedy, which will premiere in the fall, is Emmy award-winning Laura Linney’s project through and through; not only will Linney play the lead role, but she’s wearing the producer hat as well. The series follows Cathy (Linney), a suburban wife, mother and teacher who is dealing with a terminal cancer (The Big C) diagnosis. So far, Showtime has picked up 13 episodes of The Big C.
