We were expecting The Roots latest album, How I Got Over, last June. But the band couldn’t stop recording, meaning the disc’s realease got pushed back time and time again. But according to Billboard.com, they’ve finally announced that How I Got Over will be available June 8 via Def Jam Records.
The Roots have also begun work with Booker T. Jones on his new album. This will be the follow-up to Jones’ Potato Hole, on which he was backed by Drive-By Truckers and Neil Young. (Is Jones good at picking collaborators, or what?) Oh, and he also won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album for the record last year. Phew.
In other Roots-related news, tickets are now on sale for the this year’s Roots Picnic, which will take place June 5 at the Festival Pier on Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. The lineup includes Vampire Weekend, Clipse, Tune-Yards, Mayer Hawthorne and many more.
