Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov Plan Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie Adaptation
Even Tim Burton isn’t immune to the vampire virus that’s sweeping the globe. The crazy-creative filmmaker is reuniting with Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov (the duo worked together to produce animated feature, 9) to sink his teeth into Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, just released this Tuesday, is in the same quirky genre as his bestseller Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is already set to be made into a film starring Natalie Portman.
Although the Lincoln film is only in the initial stages, Grahame-Smith has already agreed to pen the screenplay, while Burton and Bekmambetov are ready to tackle the role of producer.
So what exactly does a vampire chasing, 19th-century American president look like? Apparently the book includes actual events (the Civil War, Lincoln’s road to the White House) with a lot of ax-wielding and revenge-seeking woven in. Oh, Honest Abe…whatever will you get into next?
