Tribeca Film Festival 2010 Line-Up Revealed

Tribeca Film Festival 2010 Line-Up Revealed

We told you that Shrek Forever After was set to open this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, but now the initial lineup is out. Although this year’s numbers have been pared down from 120 to 85 feature films (plus 47 shorts), the submissions are as varied as ever, with filmmakers hailing from 38 countries.

As far as buzz-worthy entries go, the film Untitled Eliot Spitzer Project, a documentary about former New York governor Spitzer by Alex Gibney, is leading the pack. Some familiar faces will grace the screen over the course of the 12-day event (James Franco, Juliette Lewis) but lots of newcomers will also be there. And that, after all, is much of the point. Founded in 2002 after the 9/11 terrorist attacks to revitalize the New York film industry, the Tribeca Film Festival has always encouraged budding and independent filmmakers to take part in the action.

Similar to other film festivals (Sundance, SXSW), this year, 12 movies shown at Tribeca will be available through video on-demand cable stations as well, so participation in the festival can extend far beyond New York. Visit Tribeca’s site to view the current lineup, as well as to get ticketing information and prices.
