Want to Become a Wu-Tang Clan General?

Want to Become a Wu-Tang Clan General?

Now’s your chance! If you are a U.S. citizen between the ages of 18 and 32 with a valid e-mail address and phone number, $23.50, and, most importantly, Witty Unpredictable Talent And Natural Game, well, step right up! You’re eligible to become one of Wu-Tang Clan’s nine new generals (via Limewire).

Wu-Tang Management president and CEO John “Mook” Gibbons, Loud Records CEO Steve Rifkin, New York DJ Stef Lover and Clan member U-God, will soon hit the road, scouring American cities for nine new generals to join the hallowed Wu-Tang family. They’re looking for rhymers from all over the country to audition for a spot in the next generation of the Wu-Tang dynasty. “It’s always been about growth and development,” Amar Divine, project manager for the “Next 9 Generals in Wu-Tang Competition” tells Paste. The competition, which will be broadcast on an as-yet-undisclosed television network, seeks to offer a leg up to struggling MCs with something to say. “From just being involved in the competition, you get exposure,” Divine explains. “All these competitions involve [fans] getting personally involved with their favorite, so whether or not you win, you leave with a fan base.”

Starting in June, the judges will travel to Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago Los Angeles, and Richmond, Va., seeking artists worthy of carrying the Wu-Tang “W.” Hungry MCs can register for auditions in advance online for $23.50 or take a chance by waiting in line to be seen when the judges make their junket this summer. Instrumental samples of “Protect Ya Neck” and “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthing ta Fuck Wit’” are available for download so contestants can start practicing for the big day.
