AC/DC's Brian Johnson to Pen Tracks for Indie Movie

By now, you’ve probably heard AC/DC’s music in the promos for surefire summer blockbuster Iron Man 2. You may even have caught wind that the film’s soundtrack is sort of a greatest hits album from the rockers. But did you know that AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson is also penning songs for the upcoming indie flick Doonby, starring John Schneider of Smallville and Robert Davi of Die Hard? We didn’t either until The Playlist pointed it out.

Doonby has been described as a cross between It’s a Wonderful Life and Crazy Heart. We’re not sure where it is those two intersect, but it seems conceivable that, wherever it is, solo tracks from Brian Johnson might live there. Consider the film’s synopsis: “Sam Doonby, a mysterious, handsome drifter gets off a Greyhound bus in a small Texas town and finds work at Leroy’s Blues Bar where his great musical talents make him very popular.” Sam rides the wave until his knack for avoiding the variety of misfortunes that plague his neighbors makes him an object of suspicion and envy. One day, he simply disappears just as he had come, leaving “terrible shocks” for the entire town in his wake.

Will we see Schneider as Doonby the drifter, crooning songs from one of the kings of barroom bravado? We’ll have to wait and see. But he’s hoping we’ll get at least a brief cameo from Johnson himself.
