Anna Friel, the actress perhaps best known for her turn as a sunny dead girl who couldn’t touch her beloved piemaker in the canceled-too-soon Pushing Daisies, is in talks to join the cast of Dark Fields according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film currently features Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro and Abbie Cornish, and is based on the novel of the same name by Alan Glynn.
Friel would play the ex-wife of Cooper’s character, a down and out copywriter who stumbles across a new drug that makes him incredibly intelligent. He writes a book and learns foreign languages in a matter of hours while high on the mysterious MTD-48. Like most drugs, the narcotic has terrifying side effects, including horrible withdrawal symptoms and instigation of homicidal tendencies. The thriller is set to come out next spring.
