Avatar Sets Blu-ray Sales Record

Avatar raked in previously unmatched billions at the box office, so it’s really no wonder that when the film was released on DVD and Blu-ray yesterday it broke even more records. Selling about 1.5 million copies, the 2D version of James Cameron’s award-winning movie far surpassed the former Blu-ray champ, The Dark Knight. Overall, the flick sold about four million copies.

But Pandora fans, don’t worry if you didn’t get your hands on your very own copy of Avatar yesterday. Fox Home Entertainment is already planning for a special edition Christmas release, as well as a 3D version sometime next year.
