How’s comedian Aziz Ansari preparing for his gig as the 2010 MTV Movie Awards host? By stalking former Oscar emcee Billy Crystal, of course. “I’m outside his house right now,” the 27-year-old comedian told the Associated Press. On June 6, Ansari—whose MTV show Human Giant proved a significant stepping stone in his career—will host the 19th annual event.
The non-traditional awards show—which honors such performances as best kiss, best fight and best global superstar—should be a good fit for Ansari. “It’s a cool job for me because it allows me to do a lot of things I enjoy doing,” Ansari told the AP. “With the monologue, I get to use my standup skill, and I love making short films and stuff, and that’s another thing the host gets to do.”
Ansari, Paste‘s tenth best comedian of the past decade, is a prominent cast member of NBC’s Parks and Recreation. He’s also got a mixtape with Dave Sitek in the works, the first single of which, “Aaaaaaaangry,” is out now.
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards air on MTV (natch) at 9 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 6.
