Canadian psych-folk quintet Black Mountain caught our attention back in 2005 with their debut LP Modern Music. Nearly five years later, the band is preparing for the release of its third full-length album, tentatively titled Wilderness Heart (via TwentyFourBit.
In a recent interview with Exclaim, Black Mountain frontman Stephen McBean said, “This one’s maybe a bit more folky." He added, “There’s some heavy songs on it, but there’s no 18-minute opus on this one.”
The band split recording, which began early this year, between L.A. studio Sunset Sound (the birthplace of Prince’s Purple Rain) and a studio in Seattle. According to Exclaim, the album should be finished this week, with tour dates to follow soon.
