Cartoon Network Plans New Version of Looney Tunes

If the latest versions of films like Psycho, Planet of the Apes and The Stepford Wives have taught us anything, it’s that the remaking of classics is not a task to be taken lightly. That’s why news that Cartoon Network has updated episodes of Looney Tunes in the works makes us really excited and, simultaneously, really scared.

From what we understand, the show’s going to be expanded from seven-minute episodes into half-hour ones (with commercial breaks, of course). But it seems the tunes have relocated to the ‘burbs for The Looney Tunes Show, and now Bugs, Sylvester, Tweety and the gang are all neighbors. Plus, we’ll see classic Looneys perform two-minute music videos (“Merrie Melodies”) and the Road Runner and Coyote will show up every now and then via computer-animated shorts.

Please don’t screw this up, Cartoon Network.
