Kal Penn Leaves D.C. to Film New Harold and Kumar Movie

Kal Penn Leaves D.C. to Film New Harold and Kumar Movie

Remember when Kal Penn took a hiatus from Hollywood to work for President Obama back in July? Well, now the actor who made White Castle famous is leaving his position as an associate director of public engagement at the White House to film a Christmas-themed Harold and Kumar movie.

The film (which might be shot in 3-D, in keeping with the recent obsession) should get a holiday 2011 release date. There’s still no word on whether the 32-year-old Penn (who’s been using his birth name, Kalpen Modi, while working in politics) will head back East after filming wraps up. The Washington Post reported that a White House spokesperson said, “Mr. Modi is honored to serve in this Administration and has no announcements to make about his tenure here at this point.”
