Sacha Baron Cohen is the latest star linked to a remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
The comedy actor, most famed for his alter egos such as Austrian fashion designer Bruno and Kazakhstan reporter Borat, will reportedly take on the title role in the comedy, which is based on Danny Kaye’s 1947 film.
The project has been in development since 1994, when Jim Carrey was slated to play the lead, before he dropped out. Owen Wilson was then expected to take on the part, and Austin Powers actor Mike Myers was most recently connected to the project.
The film was originally a Paramount project, is now with 20th Century Fox and still needs a director after Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg stepped down. Peter Morgan is said to be writing the latest script, which sees Walter undertake a different occupation than the original film. Where he was once a bumbling writer, he will now be transformed into a meek store manager with dreams of being a hero.
