Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire Working on Mysterious Short Film in Texas

Spike Jonze’s most recent collaboration with Arcade Fire brought a tear to many an eye when the Canadian rockers’ “Wake Up” was featured in the preview for Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are, bringing anticipation for the film and sentimentalism about the book to a fever pitch. Now, Jonze, who submitted a film to Sundance this year and recently made a short with Kanye West, is enlisting Arcade Fire for another short film with production going down in Austin, as Jonze’s rep told MTV.

The film will feature late-teen actors and focus on the theme of “friends growing apart.” No release date has been announced yet, but with a third album coming from the collective this summer, it seems a safe bet that we’ll see the short premiere in the next few months. Meanwhile, Win Butler and Co. will headline Lollapalooza as well as playing the Reading and Leeds festivals.
