TNT Renews Southland
TNT—the network that resurrected the NBC-discarded drama Southland—has renewed the L.A.-based cop show for a second season. The network that claims to “know drama” ordered 10 new episodes of the show that will be aired beginning in January of 2011.
“The ratings were not terrible, nor were they fantastic,” TNT’s executive VP Michael Wright told Daily Variety. “But this is an excellent TV show—expertly written, directed, produced and acted and it is a perfect fit with the TNT brand and the rest of our lineup.” The show, which focuses largely on Los Angeles police officers and gang members, is produced by John Wells of ER and The West Wing fame.
