Doves Announce Two Year Recording Hiatus

It seems Doves have gotten burned out. The UK trio is currently touring, but they’ve announced plans to take a two-year break from recording. “It’s nice just to have a bit of breathing space,” frontman Jimi Goodwin says. “We just wanted to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill.” He also said that the band’s “vaults” have been emptied, and that any material from now on will be brand new.

On his time off, Goodwin hopes he can finally work with Guy Garvey of Elbow, something he’s been planning to make a reality. “Me and Guy have been talking about it endlessly for years,” Goodwin says. “There are a couple of tracks that we have passed back and forwards to each other but it’s having the time.” You know, a two-year vacation might help with that issue.
