Gorillaz to Replace U2 at Glastonbury
U2 was forced to relinquish its coveted Friday night headline slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival after Bono received emergency back surgery on Friday. We told you about BBC’s suggested replacements, which included Coldplay and Jay-Z, but the Glastonbury coordinators went down a different path, instead scheduling everybody’s favorite cartoon supergroup, Gorillaz.
As festival founder Michael Eavis posted on the Glastonbury website: “This is going to be Gorillaz’ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio visual spectacle which will really ignite the Pyramid on the Friday night, with Muse, then Stevie Wonder to follow.”
No pressure, Gorillaz!
