The fourth helping of Mission: Impossible now has a director. Brad Bird, who headed up 2004’s The Incredibles, has signed on to team up with star Tom Cruise and producer J.J. Abrams to create the next chapter in the action series. This would mark Bird’s foray into the live-action world, since he’s been an animated-only director until now.
“We’re working with Brad right now,” Cruise confirmed to Empire magazine. "I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but everything’s signed…Brad is doing it.” Though plot details are under pretty tight wraps at this point, the movie has a tentative December 2011 release date.
