Members of Death Cab for Cutie and Vampire Weekend Contribute to New Ra Ra Riot Album

One of the 10 sugarpop bands we’re not ashamed to love is releasing a follow-up to its infectious 2008 debut, The Rhumb Line. Syracuse-based Ra Ra Riot will drop The Orchard, mixed by Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla and co-produced by Andrew Maury, Aug. 24.

According to the band’s MySpace, frontman Wes Miles also solicited some help from Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij on the album’s eighth track, “Do You Remember.” This isn’t the first time the pair have collaborated, though. Together, Batmanglij and Miles released an LP, titled LP, with their R&B side project, Discovery, last year. We got to know them around that same time.
