Sam Worthington is confirmed to star in Quatermain. The Avatar star will also make his debut as a producer on the film, which is being given a sci-fi make-over by Dreamworks.
Adapted from the King Solomon’s Mines novel by H. Rider Haggard, Dreamworks’ version will see Quatermain—played by Worthington—returning from space for a global adventure in a time where humans have left earth, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is in the developmental stages, and there is no confirmed director yet, but Worthington will be joined as a producer by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, who are taking the film to the big screen.
The busy 33-year-old is also currently shooting The Fields, a thriller directed by Ami Canaan Mann, and is attached to Dracula – Year Zero, helmed by Alexander Proyas.
Quartermain’s start date has not yet been confirmed.
