Steven Spielberg to Adapt War Horse for the Screen
In his next film, Steven Spielberg main character won’t be a giant transforming robot, a dinosaur or even a human. The famed director’s next project will tell a story from the point of view of a horse according to Variety. War Horse is based on a novel by Michael Morpurgo about a horse whose young owner becomes a soldier in World War One. “[The film’s] heart and its message provide a story that can be felt in every country,” said Speilberg of the project.
The novel has already been adapted for the stage, as a successful London play that uses large puppets for the horse characters. The film adaptation is being written by Lee Hall and Richard Curtis. It currently has an anticipated release date in August 2011.
