Watch a Physicist Talk About How the Iron Man Suit Could Soon be Reality

When Iron Man 2 hits theaters tomorrow, it’s sure to awe viewers with its high-tech effects. But, according to Emory physicist Sidney Perkowitz, superhuman suits like the one Robert Downey, Jr. sports in the flick might not be so far from reality. In fact, Perkowitz says, the military is already developing similar get-ups.

“You might someday end up with a suit that makes you smarter, is under your direct mental control, lets you do amazing things,” Perkowitz says. “Flying, I think, is maybe the hardest thing to think about. That I wouldn’t bet money on but other things I would bet money on.”
