Watch The National, Sufjan Stevens Perform on Letterman

As guests on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, The National, accompanied by Sufjan Stevens, performed “Afraid Of Everyone,” a track from the band’s newly-released (and quite good, we might add) album, High Violet. Stevens, a longtime friend and contributor to The National’s efforts, supplied backing vocals and played tambourine throughout the set.

Back in January, Matt Berninger, frontman for The National, confirmed that Stevens would be featured on the band’s new album, telling Pitchfork “he sang some weird little backing vocal melodies—no words.” Stevens also contributed to Boxer, The National’s previous release, playing piano on “Ada.”
