OK, so maybe it’s not a brand-new track from her next upcoming album, but it is a new song featuring Fiona Apple’s smoldering pipes. Considering she hasn’t released a full studio album in almost five years, we’ll take it.

The song is part of Chickens in Love, a full-length album due out sometime in the near future (release date is as of yet TBA) from Dave Eggers’ nationwide nonprofit, 826LA. The album is a collection of 12 songs whose lyrics were written by 826LA students and then covered by Los Angeles-based artists. According to their Facebook page, the songs are products of songwriting workshops with the kids and musicians, and all proceeds from record sales will go back into the programs.

“So Sleepy,” a cover of 826LA’s The Gummy Bears, is Apple’s and Jon Brion’s contribution to Chickens in Love. You can stream it and other tracks by the likes of She & Him, Cold War Kids, Dum Dum Girls, Crystal Antlers, the Pity Party and more on their Facebook page, and you can pre-order the record here. For the time being, though, here’s “So Sleepy,” below:
