Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold to Play Solo Dates with Joanna Newsom

June 28, 2010  |  10:00am

As Joanna Newsom tours the West Coast over the next couple months, she’ll be accompanied by a pretty stellar opening act. None other than Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold will be joining her on eight dates that run from the end of July through the first week of August.

Pecknold already played a handful of North American dates with Newsom at the beginning of the year, and recently released a video cover of “On a Good Day,” (below) a track from her latest effort, Have One on Me.

Even though he seems to be taking a break from Fleet Foxes endeavors, Pecknold & Co. have been posting frequent Facebook status updates about new songs and a potential new album. The band discussed the use of a “Moog Voyager” and “distorted guitar squall,” but then posted an update on June 18 stating: “Hmm. Everything I’ve said in interviews about this record is a lie.” OK. Well. Who knows what these guys have in store, but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.
