Grand Ole Opry to Re-Open in October

Grand Ole Opry to Re-Open in October

After early May flooding in Nashville caused the Grand Ole Opry complex to close its doors, artists were moved to other venues to continue performing. But after almost $17 million in repairs, the Grand Ole Opry will reopen on Oct. 1.

More than two feet of water assaulted the Opry—long-time home to country-music concerts, award shows and radio broadcasts—during the flash flooding that struck parts of Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi.

Reuters reports that the stage, dressing rooms, retail store, curtains, mechanical and power systems all needed to be replaced in the building, which has been the Opry’s home since 1974. Gaylord Entertainment, the Opry’s owners, said that the Hotel and Convention center would reopen Nov. 15.
