There are just those times when the desire to push some colored buttons and pretend to be a legitimate musician is overwhelming. Thanks to the new Guitar Hero app from Activision for iPhone and iPod Touch, there’s a portable way to get the fix.
For $2.99, rock stars on the go can get the app, which allows them to create a rocker avatar. On an iPhone 3GS or a third-generation iPod Touch, the avatar will appear in a three-dimensional concert setting as it plays bass or guitar. The standard app comes with six songs, including Vampire Weekend’s “Cousins” and The White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”; additional three-song packs sell for $1.99 each. In addition to playing on their own, Guitar Hero app users can log in to Facebook to compare scores and show off images of their avatar to each other.
