Keith Richards Gets Help with Autobiography

Keith Richards Gets Help with Autobiography

It’s got to be tough to write an autobiography; there are so many dilemmas to face. How do you decide what’s important about your own life? How personal do you get? Do you use your ex’s real name? And, of course, what if you can’t really remember anything that happened during a particular stretch of heavy drug use time?

Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards found himself struggling with this last dilemma as he penned his upcoming autobiography. To get specific, he couldn’t remember most of the early 1970’s. That’s right, half-a-decade…blank space. Bummer, considering The Stones released four studio albums during these years (including the LP whose re-release is currently dominating, Exile On Main Street), all of which he helped write, record, and perform.

Lucky for Mr. Richards, rock journalist Nick Kent was paying attention and has stepped in to patch the holes, effectively reminding the guitar ripper exactly what happened to him over the course of five or so years. Speaking at the recent Hay Festival, Kent said he also coaxed out of Richards repressed memories so negative, Richards would burst into tears just speaking of them.

Richards says he is currently reading over the bio’s proofs, and expects the book to be released in October.
