Kristen Wiig's Wedding Comedy Recruits O'Dowd, Lucas
Kristen Wiig is pretty funny. She’s had an immensely successful Saturday Night Live run, and in the last year has appeared in more films than you can count on one hand, including How to Train Your Dragon, MacGruber, Date Night and Despicable Me. She’s been brewing up some trouble of her own too, with Bridesmaids, a comedy she wrote that has the production support of Judd Apatow and director Paul Feig of Freaks And Geeks fame.
Bridesmaids already has an all-star comedy lineup with Rose Byrne and Maya Rudolph in starring roles; newest to join the film are Irish funnyman Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd, Dinner For Schmucks) and British comedian Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Alice in Wonderland).
The movie is also Wiig’s first turn as leading lady in the role of a maid of honor butting heads with the bridesmaids in the months leading up to her best friend’s wedding. It’s currently due out sometime in 2011.
