Ozzy Osbourne led some 52,000 Dodgers fans in a scream-a-thon last Friday in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the loudest and longest scream ever. According to E! Online, the event, titled “Scream for a Cure,” was part of the third annual ThinkCure! Weekend at the Dodger Stadium. Raising more than $50,000 in previous years, all the event’s proceeds fund cancer research. Sharon Osbourne, who recently recovered from colon cancer, also showed support for the cause, appearing in a promotional message for the event.
All this talk about rock stars and screaming reminded us of some of the greatest rock screams we detailed in both a list and Paste Culture Club podcast, which you can listen to here. About 19 minutes in, you’ll hear Paste associate editor Rachael Maddux and games editor Jason Killingsworth engage in a cutthroat scream-off, followed by samples of pure, unadulterated screaming from folks like Paul McCartney, Kurt Cobain and James Brown.
