In the summer of 2008, Pete Yorn made a spur-of-the-moment decision to record some tunes with former Pixies frontman Frank Black. Five days and an unfortunate bout of flu later, Yorn’s new, self-titled album was basically finished. Now, the New Jersey-based singer/songwriter has announced a Sept. 28 release date for the 11-song collection, which will be distributed via Vagrant.
“I tried to get the session into a fearless and raw place, and to his artistic credit Pete took his songwriting to a fearless and raw place,” Black says in a press release. “The listener will find his or herself sitting right next to Pete on the couch. And the record totally rocks out.”
The album follows Yorn’s two 2009 releases, Back and Fourth, and his collaborative effort with Scarlett Johansson, Break Up. Check out the full tracklist for the new album below:
