Let’s face it, the ending of 2009’s Sherlock Holmes was a big, fat sequel magnet. So, are we surprised that the lovable London detective will be making another appearance on the silver screen? Nope.
Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer announced a December 16, 2011 release date for the movie during Time Warner’s recent investor day in NYC, writes The Hollywood Reporter. As previously announced, the movie will feature a role reprisal from Robert Downey, Jr. and be directed by Guy Ritchie.
Meyer also took a second to mention that the studio is very close to green-lighting a Flash movie, and that Wonder Woman and Aquaman features are in the works.
For now, we can look forward to another Christmastime romp around England with the sharp-eyed, often-shirtless Sherlock Holmes. Happy holidays, ladies!
