Writers Can Now Self-Publish on Apple's iBookstore

Who needs a book publisher when a 13-digit ISBN, proper formatting, epubcheck 1.0.5 validation and an iTunes Store account is all it takes to start selling novels in the iBookstore?

According to Mac Life, those requirements along with a US Tax ID and an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.5 or later is all it takes. Once you’re in the system, you can begin selling your work via the iBookstore in the U.S. and overseas. You still have control over where you would like to sell your novel, however, as well as how much you would like to sell it for.

Currently, the iBooks app is only available on the iPad, but the iPhone OS version 4.0 software dropping this summer marks the moment when the app becomes iPhone accessible.
