Hot on the heels of the season four Mad Men premiere AT&T’s U-Verse is considering dropping the show’s broadcasting channel, AMC. According to the N.Y. Daily News, AMC would join WE and IFC (all owned by Rainbow Media Holdings) in being cut out of the AT&T deal when a contract between the two companies expires July 14.
While AT&T representatives claim “Rainbow channels are among the least-watched and most overpriced per viewer,” AMC says U-Verse is merely looking out for “corporate interests” and cheating the company’s 2.3 million subscribers. “We are negotiating in good faith with AT&T and are hopeful that we can reach an agreement as soon as possible so that our viewers don’t lose out,” an AMC spokesperson says.
The latest season of Mad Men, which has already raked in a considerable number of Emmy noms, is scheduled to premiere on July 25.
