Battlestar Galactica Webseries In The Works

Battlestar Galactica Webseries In The Works

Though Battlestar Galactica‘s final episode aired on March 20, 2009, the vast and incredibly imagined sci-fi drama remains in our hearts. Spin-off prequel series Caprica just made a showing at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con to promote footage from its second season, but maybe that isn’t enough—maybe what we really need is Adama in bite-sized, harder-hitting doses.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a Battlestar Galactica webseries is in development to deliver just that: the story of a young William Adama in the first Cylon war. If greenlighted for production, the series, titled Blood & Chrome, will run for nine or 10 episodes that are 9 or ten minutes long. Battlestar Galactica and Caprica co-executive producer Michael Taylor will reportedly write the script for the short series.

“We’re not going to be shying away from R-rated blood and guts and sex,” Taylor said. “Because this is initially meant to air online, we pretty much have no restrictions in that department.”

The series doesn’t have any acting talent slated yet, but if it does go into production, it is likely that it will be shot in front of green screens using virtual sets, as high-tech scans were made of all Battlestar Galactica sets.

The story deals with some heavy themes according to Taylor, most notably a young man’s experience in war, both the reality of war and how it is portrayed in the media. Also, toasters. Maybe.
